The Private Equity Wire US Emerging Manager Awards recognize excellence among private equity emerging fund

managers and service providers

Voting for the awards is conducted via an online poll of the entire Private Equity Wire userbase, where participants are asked to make their choice among the shortlisted firms in each category.


The GP manager categories cover fund performance and fundraising success by firms across a range of private markets investment strategies – including buyout, growth, fund of funds, secondaries, co-investment, debt, real estate and real assets. The service provider categories span all the key areas of the broader private equity industry.


All winners are invited to attend an exclusive ceremony and networking event on Wednesday, March 13th at Convene 101 Park Avenue, New York.

Methodology

The pre-selection data for the fund manager shortlisted was provided by Bloomberg. Candidates in all categories and asset size groupings were determined as follows:


US Emerging Manager:

For the service provider categories, the nominated firms are based on a widespread survey of more than 100 emerging private equity fund managers.

  • Fund Manager Reported Assets Under Management < $5,000,000,000.
  • Fund manager is overall managing <= 3 Known Private Equity Funds

Fundraising:

Nominees are based on the largest fund size within the award criteria.

Performance:

Nominees are based on the highest performing Net IRRs within the award criteria.

  • Except Coinvestment substrategy GP <= 5 due to lack of depth.
  • Except Coinvestment – no vintage year older than 2018
  • Fund is actively fundraising (Fund is within ['Fundraising', 'Fundraising & Investing'] lifecycle).
  • Funds have raised at least 50% of their stated target size.
  • Unlimited fund size
  • Venture Capital – Fund Size is under $250,000,000
  • Fund is actively investing, or harvesting (Fund is within ['Fundraising & Investing', 'Investing', 'Harvesting'] lifecycle).
  • IRR reported in the past 42 months (IRR Date is > "2020-06-31")
  • Open-Ended funds are excluded
  • Fund represents 1st, 2nd, or 3rd fund within their Fund Series
  • No Funds with a Vintage Year older than 2018
  • Manager is Domiciled (maintains a primary headquarters) within North America (United States, Canada).
  • Disclosed currency is USD
  • Open-Ended funds are excluded
