Rewarding environmental, social and governance excellence in private equity

Tuesday 24th October, 2023 | Convene 22 Bishopsgate, London

The Private Equity Wire ESG AAA European Awards recognises excellence among private equity fund managers

across a wide range of categories

The Private Equity Wire ESG AAA European Awards have been created to benchmark, acknowledge, and reward the efforts of private equity firms that have created sustainable and sector-leading ESG policies at both the portfolio company and management firm level in Europe.

With regulators, LPs and internal stakeholders pushing for more progress and better ESG metrics, Private Equity Wire has partnered with EthicsGrade, the stakeholder-centric, AI-driven, ESG data company, to create an application process that is fair and credible.

We want being shortlisted and winning an award to be a genuine badge of ESG quality and advancement. Using the expertise and independence of Private Equity Wire’s partnership with EthicsGrade, the ESG AAA Awards will represent a kitemark of achievement and quality across this globally, societally, and ethically vital space.

The winner selection process is based on a mixture of quantitative data and the evidence submitted, with three awards up for grabs in each category: AAA, AA and A.

How to enter?

Spanning 30 categories, managers can enter our awards using an application process that takes a minute per category. Using a simple metric driven application process, managers can enter their details on Private Equity Wire’s and Ethics Grade’s specially designed platform.

Funds raised at the Private Equity Wire ESG AAA European Awards 2023 supports Save the Children's Emergency Fund.

When children are fighting to survive and rebuild their lives, Save the Children's Emergencies Fund allows us to act quickly.

Save the Children's Emergency Fund allows us to respond wherever and whenever we're needed most. It allows us to respond within hours of a disaster, so we can reach children immediately and help them survive.

No matter what the emergency, children always suffer the most. Conflict and natural disasters threaten millions of children's survival and well-being every year - and the need is greater now than it has ever been.

Together with children, supporters and partners, we fight to help every child become who they want to be.

THANK YOU for your support.

Methodology

Each category can be entered via a simple questionnaire – questions are based on industry feedback and the expertise of our data partner, EthicsGrade.

Managers can enter multiple fund and manager categories, with a varying set of questions applied to each distinct category.

The category with the fewest questions is, ‘Best corporate sustainability for portfolio company’, with 16, and the most are the ‘Best ESG firm’ categories with 27 each.

To make the judging process fair and transparent the model is skewed towards quantitative questions versus open and subjective ones.
